Crochet baby hat - daisy

Daisy Crochet baby hat by Fibreromance

Size of hat:
The hat measures 14.5" around and 6" long. This hat should fit a baby 3-6 months

Yarn: worsted weight
Bernat Satin Yarn in:, Yellow, Blue, green
Bernat Softee baby yarn in: soft Fern,
(These tree colors are worked with 4mm hook)
Crochet hook size: 4 mm
Bernat Softee baby yarn in :White
(For the petals)
Crochet hook size: 3.5 mm

Hat is worked from the top, in rounds:
Into magic ring:
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as HDC), 9 HDC = 10 HDC, tide up magic ring, use contrast color yarn to mark beginning of the rounds, continue work
Round 2: inc 2 HDC in each St around (means work 2 HDC in each stitch) = 20 HDC
Round 3: inc every other HDC (* inc 2 HDC, HDC* repeat all around) = 30 HDC
Round 4: inc every third HDC (* HDC, HDC, inc 2 HDC* repeat all around) =40 HDC
Round 5: inc every forth HDC (* HDC, HDC, HDC, inc 2 HDC* repeat all around), last inc in this round are 2 SC, = 48 HDC + 2 SC (50 st), SL ST to the next, cut off.
Note: we do that just because To make it look smoother, when you changing color.
Join to blue yarn just before SL ST to keep up on same amount of stitches.

Round 6: Change to blue yarn, work on back loops only, ch 2 (counts as HDC),  Inc every fifth HDC (* HDC, HDC, HDC, HDC, inc 2 HDC* repeat all around),= 60 HDC
Round 7: inc every sixth  HDC (* HDC, HDC, HDC, HDC, HDC, HDC inc 2 HDC* repeat all around) =70 HDC,
Round 8 -11         = 70 HDC
In this row we will start to firm waves.
Continue work with blue yarn:
Round 12: 3sc, *5 HDC,5 SC* repeat all around, 2 SC  = 70 St
Note: when you chancing medium and soft green yarn do not cut off. Simply drop one color end of the row and continue work with different color.
Change color to medium green
Round 13- 14: 3sc, *5 HDC,5 SC* repeat all around, 2 SC
Change color to soft green
Round 15- 16: 3sc, *5 HDC,5 SC* repeat all around, 2 SC

Change color to medium green
Round 17- 18: 3sc, *5 HDC,5 SC* repeat all around, 2 SC
Work that many rows as you need to obtain needed hight (lengt of the hat). Model shows 12 rounds.
In second last row work:
3sc, *2 HDC, DC, 2 HDC, 5 SC* repeat all around, 2 SC,
Then in last round:
SL ST over each of 3 SC, *2 HDC, DC, 2 HDC, SL ST over next 5 SC* repeat all around, fasten off.

Petals:
Now we will return back to yellow part and we will work on unused loops of round 6.
In previous round we had 50 st.

First petal
Join white yarn on the back,
R1: ch 1, SC to same (join spot), SC in next 9 st, SL ST to next, turn = 10 SC
R2: skip SL ST, 10 SC, ch 1, turn
R3: skip 1 st, 9 SC, ch 1, turn
R4: skip 1 st,  8 SC. ch 1, turn
R5: skip 1 st,  7 SC, ch 1, turn
R6: skip 1 st,   7 SC , turn
R7: skip 3 first SC, 9 DC in 4th, skip next 3  Sl st into last  St of  the row ,fasten off.

Next petal
Join yarn to the last st ( it is a SL ST from previous petal) then work same way as fisrt petal.

After last (fifth petal is made, do not cut off).
Edge around all petals: *SL ST, Ch 1*, fasten off.

Now the fun part is over and annoying part begins ( at least for me ): needle time & working in ends.

Begin with white lose ends where you joined yarn. Then work in ends of petal, sew gently just - a couple st – to the blue part of the hat.
Then green, blue , yellow…. Uff a lot of ends hmmm?!

And now you are definitely done and ready to go with your baby girl for a spring walk, even still a bit chilli!
Enjoy your day!
